<p>Jade Iginla picked up an assist as Team Canada defeated Team USA 3–2 on Monday evening to capture gold at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women&#8217;s World Championship in Madison, WI.</p>

<p>Iginla, 17, recorded the primary helper on Ava Murphy&#8217;s goal midway through the second period, which gave Canada a 2–0 lead over its fierce rivals.</p>

<p>Despite allowing two goals in seven seconds late in the middle period, Canada ended up holding on to win 3–2 and capture the gold.</p>
<p>Jade Iginla is the eldest of Jarome Iginla&#8217;s three children. Her entire immediate family was in attendance at the Labahn Ice Arena to take in Monday&#8217;s game.</p>
<p>Jarome, now 44, won gold medals in many international competitions during his illustrious career, including the U20 World Juniors, the World Cup of Hockey, and the Olympics.</p>
<p>However, Jade already has one up on her father: Jarome never had the chance to play at the U18 Worlds, which were established in 1999, during his career. (Jarome did win gold with a Canadian U18 team at 1994&#8217;s &#8220;La Copa Mexico,&#8221; which served as a precursor to what is now called the Hlinka Gretzky Cup).</p>
<p>Jade Iginla spent the 2021–22 season playing at the Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna, where Jarome works as a coach and her eldest brother, Tij, also plays. In 27 total games with Rink Academy, Iginla scored 22 goals and 39 points.</p>
<p>Iginla also previously played at the prestigious Shattuck St. Mary&#8217;s Prep School in Faribault, MN, and is committed to Brown University for the 2022–23 season and beyond.</p>
